Xavier Sandavol

p1000190Xavier Sandavol’s golf career is the success of hard work and dedication. Working as a locker room attendant at Butte des Mortes in the early 1970s, Xavier received his first set of clubs as a donation from a generous member. The gift turned Xavier into a bit of an addict, as he soon spent every spare moment at the driving range hitting balls until his hands calloused. As years passed, and Xavier’s golfing ability and status as an Amateur rose, he continued his dedicated, self-made approach. While he never paid for a formal lesson, Xavier did credit Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan, and all their golfing literature, with his education. Since turning professional in 1984, Xavier has worked as the head man in Racine, taught in Ohio family golf centers, opened a Golf Galaxy from the ground up in Brookfield, and opened multiple Dick’s Sporting Goods throughout Southern Wisconsin. In 2007, Xavier and his wife returned to the Fox Valley were they now currently reside. He coaches Xavier High School’s girls golf team, and also helps with the boys team in the spring.

Having taught all demographics, Xavier understands that golf is an intricate and demanding process. He feels that instruction is a communication game, dependent on the confidence and comfort a person feels with him. He has found teaching adults is difficult, as their preconceived notions are hard to overcome. Xavier describes kids as “learning sponges” who respond tremendously to lessons and advice. No matter whom he happens to be instructing, Xavier realizes that relationships cannot be forged in one session. He helps students of the game develop patience for results that are never immediate. Xavier will help anyone who is willing to give time and interest to the game. He says he receives more enjoyment from his students, especially the kids, successes than they do themselves. For Xavier, the game of golf just keeps giving.
